VIP Jet Cabin Electronics Repair: Scope of Service

MicronTech Aviation repairs cabin electronics units used on Gulfstream, Bombardier, Embraer and Dassault Falcon business jets at component level in its laboratory and puts them through functional testing. Scope: IFE monitors and media servers, CMS control panels (Honeywell Ovation, Rockwell Collins Venue), audio and connectivity units, cabin lighting drivers and the electronic boards of galley appliances. Diagnosis and quote are free of charge; the repaired component carries a 6-month warranty. MicronTech is not an SHY-145 / EASA Part-145 approved maintenance organisation; it does not repair flight-critical avionics and does not install units on the aircraft.

Cabin Electronics Repair

MicronTech Aviation is an electronics service that repairs passenger comfort cabin electronics units from business jets in its laboratory. Avionics systems that affect flight safety are outside the scope of the service.

The service covers only cabin electronics that are not required for flight: cabin management system (CMS) panels, in-flight entertainment (IFE) displays, audio and lighting units, and the electronic boards of galley (aircraft kitchen) appliances. We carry out electronic board and display repairs for cabin management systems such as Honeywell Ovation and Rockwell Collins Venue.

Repair Process: 5 Steps from Intake to Delivery

1
Intake and Tagging

Logging of the unit's serial number, photo condition report, assignment of an RMA (return and repair tracking) number, ESD-safe (electrostatic discharge) packaging.

2
Diagnosis and Report

Identification of the fault through visual inspection and electrical measurements, diagnostic report and free quote.

3
Customer Approval

Repair starts once the quote is approved. If the unit is not to be repaired, it is returned or, if you prefer, sent for recycling.

4
Repair and Quality Control

Component-level repair, replacement of faulty parts and post-repair quality control.

5
Test and Dispatch

Functional test and test report, careful packaging, shipment by insured courier. 6-month warranty on the repaired component.

Our Repair Approach

In cabin electronics repair, we look for the root cause of the fault before replacing the failed part. If the same fault recurs shortly afterwards, the aircraft owner faces extra cost and the unit has to be removed and reinstalled again.

Root Cause Analysis

Before replacing a faulty component, we identify the underlying cause that led to its failure (overheating, voltage fluctuations, mechanical fatigue).

Component-Level Repair

Instead of replacing the entire board, we locate and repair the faulty component; in most cases this costs less than a new OEM (original manufacturer) spare board.

Functional Test

Every repaired unit undergoes functional testing before delivery, and the test results are provided as a written report.

Work Records

The work carried out is documented together with the list of replaced parts, test results and warranty information.

Warranty & Logistics

Every repaired unit is delivered with a functional test report and a warranty certificate. The warranty covers the repaired component for 6 months.

Warranty Coverage
  • 6-month warranty on the repaired component
  • Free re-repair if the same fault recurs within the warranty period
  • If a different fault occurs within the warranty period, warranty customers receive a 20% discount
  • The warranty certificate is tracked by RMA number
Shipping & Delivery
  • Shipping and delivery across Turkey by insured courier
  • Careful packaging suited to sensitive electronics
  • Hand delivery accepted by appointment at our Beylikdüzü, Istanbul office

Frequently Asked Questions about Cabin Electronics Repair

No. MicronTech is not an SHY-145 / EASA Part-145 approved maintenance organisation. The service covers only non-essential cabin comfort electronics, i.e. systems not required for flight: IFE, CMS, monitors, control panels, cabin lighting and galley electronics. These units are repaired independently at component level. For flight-critical avionics such as autopilot, FMS (flight management system), transponder or EFIS (electronic flight instrument system), an approved Part-145 organisation must be contacted.

MicronTech does not install components on the aircraft. The repaired unit is delivered to you in ESD-safe packaging with a functional test report. Installation on the aircraft must be carried out in accordance with OEM installation procedures by an approved Part-145 maintenance organisation or by the aircraft operator's authorised line maintenance staff. The test report does not replace an airworthiness release certificate.

IFE (in-flight entertainment): Monitors, the media server that stores film and music content, and audio distribution. CMS (cabin management system): Control of cabin functions such as lighting, window shades, heating/cooling, call buttons and intercom. The CMS is usually operated from touch control panels. On VIP jets the two systems are often combined on integrated cabin platforms such as Honeywell Ovation or Rockwell Collins Venue.

No. The initial diagnosis and quote are free of charge. Once the unit reaches our laboratory, a detailed diagnostic report and repair quote are sent within 24-72 hours. If you do not approve the repair, the unit is returned free of charge (only the shipping cost is borne by you).

The repaired component is covered by a 6-month warranty. If the same fault recurs within the warranty period, it is re-repaired free of charge. If a different fault occurs within the warranty period, warranty customers receive a 20% discount. For faults occurring after the warranty period has ended, a standard quote is provided.

Whenever possible, OEM (original manufacturer) components are used. Where OEM parts cannot be sourced, equivalent components verified against the datasheet and electrical parameters are used, and this is clearly stated in the repair report.
