Professional AV Installations with NETGEAR M4350 Switches

18 December 2024 MicronTech 4 min read

In AV-over-IP applications, where audio and video travel over an IP network, switches need to provide high bandwidth and low latency. NETGEAR's M4350 switches are a managed series designed and certified for AV-over-IP use.

AV Interface and Ready-Made Profiles

The M4350 series' AV user interface includes ready-made profiles for common protocols such as Dante, NDI, AES67, Q-SYS and AVB. The NETGEAR IGMP Plus feature helps multicast AV traffic run without flooding the network. The manufacturer states that most AV-over-IP installations work with little configuration as a result; large, multi-switch projects still need separate network design.

Key Features

  • ✅ 1G to 100G port options: 1G, 2.5G, 10G, 25G and 100G ports, depending on the model
  • ✅ Auto-Trunk and Auto-LAG: Automatic configuration of links between multiple M4350/M4250 switches; central management with the Engage Controller software
  • ✅ Quiet mode: A Quiet Mode that reduces fan noise on fan-cooled models
  • ✅ Redundant power: 1+1 redundancy on full-width models with an additional modular power supply (sold separately)
With ready-made profiles and automatic link configuration, system integrators handling AV installations can shorten deployment time and reduce manual configuration errors. The model should be chosen per project, based on port count, PoE requirements and uplink speed.
